For some students, the experience of taking the online exam is novel and somewhat perplexing. They have no idea what to expect and are unsure of the abilities and methods to succeed at their best. On a very pleasant note, many of the actions they'd take to pass an online class exam are identical to those they'd do to prepare for an exam;
Before the Online Examination: Prepare
Examine and initiate the test guidelines.
Is the test scheduled for a definite time and date, or can you complete it at any moment throughout a specified period?
How long will you have to complete the examination? Is the exam available to be taken at home, or must it be taken in a specific location (e.g., a campus laptop lab)? Are there any additional critical "need to know" points mentioned by the instructor?
Recognize the test format.
Which question types will the instructor include on the quiz, fill-in, short response, and essay? Perhaps a hybrid of various kinds?
Put yourself to the test.
If your instructor provides a practice exam, take it! Additionally, practice tests may be found in your class book.
Examine your PC.
Avoid last-minute complications! Whether you're using your laptop or one at a lab, ensure that it is equipped with the necessary software and hardware well in preparation for the exam. Additionally, ensure that you'll be in an area with adequate Internet access.
Examine the course materials! Even though the test is "open book," it is still necessary to study & review in the same way you would unless you were taking it in a classroom.
Schedule your time.
While testing yourself, keep your time restriction to the time provided for the actual test and decide how much tenure you will use on each question (e.g., if the test is an hour-long, you'll have 15 minutes for each question).
Establish a quiet testing location with few distractions.
Disable all notifications from instant messaging, your phone, email, and other sources (or set them to silent). Switch off the television and radio. Notify your friends or family members that you will be taking an exam, so they are less likely to disrupt you.
Decide on a date for the test.
While you may be required to take an exam at a specified time, choose one time that minimizes distraction, disruption, and stress if the test would be available over several hours (or perhaps several days).
Assemble everything you'll need to take the online class exam. If you are permitted to bring papers, books, or writing instruments, ensure that they are ready to go.
Take a moment to inhale deeply! Once logged in, pause a second to unwind and refocus your attention.
During the Online Examination: Concentrate
Keep a close watch on the time.
You may wish to set the alarm to warn you when your testing session is approaching its end (e.g., 10 minutes).
Print and save photocopies of the exam questions and your responses if your instructor permits. If you get some technical difficulties during the test or when submitting your answers, these will come in handy.
